Fog on the tay

Taken from halfway up Dundee Law. The top of the hill was blanketed in fog as was most of the River Tay. Discovered that the sensor on my Canon 300D badly needs cleaning. Going to do a search on the web tonight to find out what I need to do that. Posted by Picasa

You have received a new message

This is test of moblogging from my Sharp GX25 mobile. Vodafone put a html signature into the message and the only way I've found of getting rid of it so far is posting via Flickr.

Seems to work OK but I can't think of a way of replacing the 'You have recieved a new message' header with something more meaningful yet.

Merry Christmas

Dundee's Kelvin Jack will be working on Christmas Day for the first time. The keeper, who is World Cup bound with Trinidad and Tobago next summer, will be in training with the rest of the squad ahead of their Boxing Day clash with Airdrie United at Dens Park. Kelvin told me "I was injured last season and before that when I was playing back home we didn't have games on Boxing Day. It's just part of life as a professional though, Here in Scotland we play at the Festive season so we just have to treat Christmas as a normal working day."

Waiting for the train no more

Starting a new job in Dundee in December 19th will be a delight, but most people I've told have been wrong when they have commented that "You'll be glad to not have to commute to Aberdeen anymore". I've actually really enjoyed getting the train from Dundee to the Granite City every working day in the last six months. The 6.34am Virgin Train is an ideal way to travel, it's clean, not too busy and the staff are polite. They have electric points so you can use your laptop without draining the battery - and off course you can be asleep within minutes of taking your seat. That's the option I often take.

The trip back via the 5.22pm Scotrain train isn't as good, it's busy, dirty and an old train, but it still does the job of getting you from A to D and it sure as hell beats driving to and from work. Posted by Picasa

Delight after the under 19s win at Hamilton

Posted by Picasa Dundee Football Club's under 19s have had a tremendous season so far, losing just two matches from August to December. Unfortunately one of those came in the Scottish FA Youth Cup the biggest competition they take part in. The side they lost to were Hamilton Academical, so it was with some delight that they savoured a little revenge when they travelled to Lanarkshire and beat the 'Accies' in a league match three weeks after that cup exit.
